Ruler
FreeAntedios · coins c. AD 10–40
Antedios is known only from coins: no Roman writer names him. His silver units read ANTED or ANTÐ under a horse, and a few gold staters carry the same name; the full form Antedios is a modern reading of these legends. He was probably the first Icenian ruler to put his name on coins. His coins share the crescent-and-wreath with the ECEN coins, and dealers summarising Talbot's say the two were struck side by side, ANTED first. Evans thought he was the same prince as the ANTED of the western (Dobunnic) coins and that he led the against Rome; the catalogue text quoted by a dealer now treats the two as probably different men.,,,,
Known for The first personal name on Icenian coins, and one of the most common silver issues of East Anglia before the Roman conquest.

ECEN (Ecen)contemporary issuer of the same coin design; dealers call him a co-ruler, but whether ECEN is a person or the tribe is debated, read from coin legends,,
People Iceni: An Iron Age people of eastern England, in today's Norfolk and parts of Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and the Lincolnshire Fens; later the people of Boudica. Their Roman-era capital was at Caistor St Edmund near Norwich.
