Ruler
FreeAnted · coins c. AD 20–45 (IACB); Van Arsdell earlier
Anted is known only from coins. Gold staters of the Dobunnic tree-and-horse kind carry ANTED, sometimes followed by RIG, RIGV or RICOV, and silver units carry AN and TED either side of the horse; Evans read the full name as Antedrigus. Most current catalogues place Anted, with Eisu, late in the Dobunnic series, just before the Roman conquest: Anted's coins were buried at Nunney in Somerset with coins of Claudius (emperor from AD 41). Van Arsdell orders the rulers by the gold in their staters and puts Anted after Corio and Bodvoc. The same name ANTED appears on silver coins of the of East Anglia; Evans thought one prince had been driven west from the Iceni, but catalogues today list the Dobunnic Anted and the Icenian Antedios under their own tribes. Cassius Dio records that in AD 43 part of the 'Bodunni', probably the , came to terms with the Romans.,,,,,
Known for Putting his name on both the gold and the silver of the Dobunni in the last years before the Roman conquest.
